Doug Kemmerer has always followed his entrepreneurial spirit, guided by a strong work ethic instilled in him by his father. He began his career in the service industry, where he quickly learned the value of serving others—a principle that would shape his future endeavors.
By his early twenties, Doug had launched a business in the hospitality and entertainment industry. This venture gave him the opportunity to work alongside household names and opened his eyes to the power of storytelling. It also inspired him to begin writing about his own life, a process that revealed something even more meaningful: helping others share their stories was far more rewarding than simply telling his own.
A pivotal moment came when Doug met someone who had unknowingly crossed paths with his late father. That connection sparked a deep curiosity—not just about the shared history, but about the character and legacy of the man who had influenced him so profoundly. This experience reinforced Doug’s belief in the importance of capturing and preserving the stories that shape who we are.
Today, Doug is passionate about helping others give voice to their unique journeys. He believes in the power of storytelling to honor lives, celebrate experiences, and connect us all in deeper, more meaningful ways.

FOGELSVILLE, PA – Road Less Traveled Publishing is pleased to announce the release of Doug Kemmerer’s third book, THE JOURNEY THAT BUILT ME.
Unlike Kemmerer’s first two books which featured the journeys of adventurer, Fritz Sprandel, in this book he turns the lens inward and tells the story of his personal walk in faith. A walk which culminated last year when he was baptized at the age of almost 65.
Kemmerer is a businessman and entrepreneur, and he tells us upfront that he isn’t a theologian or a preacher, and he would never dream of debating scripture with those who have spent their lives studying it. Rather, his story is him bearing witness to a life lived on the outskirts of a relationship with God. It was only when he started writing the stories of Fritz Sprandel and how God played a big part in Fritz’s adventures, did Doug realize how blessed and favored he himself had been. God had been looking over him the whole time and now Doug says, it’s time to return the favor.
In THE JOURNEY THAT BUILT ME, Doug tells the story of his journey that started as a baby who was pronounced dead but was miraculously revived by his grandmother’s prayers. His journey continued when he took a physical to play football in junior high and a serious infection was discovered in his leg that almost cost him his leg but was saved by the intervention of world class doctors. “This wasn’t,” Doug would say later, “An accident. I know now that God had a hand in all of this.”
Doug recounts his professional and personal lives and is amazed that things that seemed like coincidences was really God working in his life. This newfound realization humbled and emboldened him to tell his story to inspire others.
THE JOURNEY THAT BUILT ME is a warm, candid look at a life that was saved for a purpose, and the purpose is to tell his story.
